Christmas is a holiday that is very “food centered”. Yes, we all know about the gifts, but really, it’s the food that can really make this holiday special. Peppermint, gingerbread, mulled cider/wine, eggnog, cheese logs, and cookies!
Growing up, my family was one of the many that had the tradition of making Christmas cookies. It was a heart-warming family activity that soon became a pastime as we got older. Since becoming vegan, I’ve really noticed how the holidays can be a challenge. As food being such a central focus, many vegans feel isolated and excluded from many of these food traditions, myself included.
Taking it upon myself, I came up with a list of cookies that are vegan but are just as tasty as your average dairy filled cookie. Traditional favorites such as gingerbread men and snickerdoodles, with some unique flavors added in. It’s a way to include everyone in the tradition of baking cookies for Christmas.
So here are 20 cookies you can enjoy with friends and family, just make sure to leave out a plate for Santa along with some vegan eggnog.
